Fantastic news! Really happy for Kobi & his new family. He looks very settled already in the pics, & Bertie very happy to have a companion.

He looks so settled already Annie :throb:

I saw this poem it seems so fitting I hope you don't mind me posting it

ROOM IN YOUR HEART

by Caro Schubert-James

Sorrow fills a barren space;

you close your eyes and see my face

and think of times I made you laugh,

the love we shared, the bond we had,

the special way I needed you -

the friendship shared by just we two.

The day's too quiet, the world seems older,

the wind blows now a little colder.

You gaze into the empty air

and look for me, but I'm not there -

I'm in heaven and I watch you,

and I see the world around you too.

I see little souls wearing fur,

souls who bark and souls who purr

born unwanted and unloved -

I see all this and more above -

I watch them suffer, I see them cry,

I see them lost, I watch them die.

I see unwanted thousands born -

and when they die, nobody mourns.

These little souls wearing fur

(Some who bark and some who purr)

are castaways who - unlike me -

will never know love or security.

A few short months they starve and roam,

Or caged in shelters - nobody takes home.

They're special too (furballs of pleasure),

filled with love and each one, a treasure.

My pain and suffering came to an end,

so don't cry for me, my person, my friend.

But think of the living - those souls with fur

(some who bark and some who purr) -

And though our bond can't be broken apart,

make room for another in your home and your heart.

A thanks Katie, that's lovely :crying:

I must admit I've found this pretty hard going. I really didn't feel I wanted to be having to look for another hound right now. These past few weeks have just been awful and I didn't think I could face it but to see Bertie just really losing the will was so heartbreaking I knew I had to do something to help him and I'm so glad I did, it's been like a breath of fresh air seeing Bertie more like his old self again, so happy and settled. He was a bag of nerves when we lost Robbie - his stomach was so upset, he was skittish outside on walks, shut-off when inside the house. Just horrible to see :crying:

So Kobi's given us that boost we've all needed. The young uns all absolutely adore him - he's got quite a fan club at the school too already and Bertie's happy. :throb: There's a much more positive feeling around here.

Robbie will be forever in our minds and our hearts, he truly was the most amazing guy....and I know he'd have loved Kobi (I actually think he's here, teaching Kobi some of the things he used to do!) so I feel it's an honour to have Kobi come into our lives. Everything happens for a reason and he's here comforting us.

I know exactly what you mean Annie. Our Gus was such a character I couldn't imagine having another dog so soon but Hill was so upset. He would turn round on walks and look for Gus or refuse to go out altogether. When he did go out, he just dragged his paws along. I'm so glad we got Magnus  - and he is very different to Gus. I think Gus would have run a mile from him though!!!

Annie you know my dream and that Robbie is in full agreement with Kobi, call me daft but Lord A looks totally chilled now and Kobi has landed on his paws with you guys  ive added a poemfor Robbie thats close to my heart, i hope you like it.

To My Mum

Mum, I did not want to leave, I wanted to be with you

Right there beside you everywhere in everything you do

Someday soon the pain will ease and then you’ll know I’m there

Just waiting my chance and watching, from the top of the stairs

You’ll feel my presence rushing by, doing my own little thing

My tail will be wagging and spinning around

I’ll be barking as though I could sing

Don’t cry and grieve, please don’t despair, I’ll try my best to come through

To show you I’m alive in spirit, I’m still your Robbie Roo

I love you Mum

Katie - that poem has reduced me to absolute mush, but it's really fitting.

What lovely news - couldn't be more pleased for you all, wishing you years of happiness and food thievery and fresh air and mad half hours and wags and magic wee moments together :flowers:

Kobi and Bertie look great together - looking forward to the next chapter
