Well... I took the BBDs up with me to poo pick the field yesterday, and I thought it would be so much nicer for everyone if I tried them off the leads. The field is triangular, with rylock fencing on two sides and electrified post and wire on the third. They exceeded my expectation.
They stayed with me most of the time, having a wee wander once or twice, but always coming back if I called them!! I am under no illusion here; if there had been a rabbit or something interesting they'd have been off, I have no doubt, but they are still quite clingy and don't want to be too far away from me. Poor Soulman did have a run in with the electric fence. I didn't see what happened but heard the yowl, followed by another yowl and then a third. I rather suspect he tried to have a go at the fence after it stung him.
I had to drive round the field on the quad, picking up the poo piles, and they followed all the way. So after we'd finished I had a wee charge about the field - me on the quad, the boys following, and it was wonderful to see them run. I took the two BBDs, the lurchers and a JRT with me today and they were all fab!

Oh wow! I was just thinking as I read that - wish I could see a video of them running after the quad, scrolled down & ta da! Those boys are so lucky to have landed with you - what a wonderful life they have now.

Well, the BBDs have passed another milestone today. I've always kept them on leads unless I'm at home or in our fields, but I took Spike (horse) out for a walk in-hand and took Jude and Soulman with me - off lead. My friend came with us on her horse. They boys were brilliant. Jude likes to run on ahead and I was a tad worried about this to start, but he always came back. We met a guy with a couple of staffies and it was cool. Everyone was chilled and happy. I've put up a wee video. Not great quality I'm afraid and it comes to an abrupt stop as Spike was trying to rob me of the dog biscuits

Great to see, they are doing so well
